Alternate guitar tunings



Sometimes it is useful to tune the guitar in a different way. This enables different playing styles and gives the instrument another sound character. Since the online guitar tuner is chromatic, it can be used to tune the guitar to alternative tunings.

Drop D tuning

The following tuning is called “Drop D”. It is called dropped because the sixth string is tuned down from E to D, thus dropped from E to D. The strings are numbered 1-6 starting from the thinnest one.
